What a day we had today. We started off around 9 AM in Beaver, Utah and drove south to Zion National Park. We'd been through there last year on our trip from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City and it was just as beautiful this year as last.
We drove took the scenic route near the North Rim of the Grand Canyon through Cliff Dwellers. The views coming down the hill from the North Rim entrance (which is closed) to Cliff Dwellers was amazing.
We arrived at the Grand Canyon entrance an hour or so later and finally got to see what all the hype was about. As you can see from the picture, we were enjoying some amazing views. We weren't as daring as some people who went outside the fenced areas to take pictures of themselves, but that's okay, we like to be safe.
After the Grand Canyon, we headed down through Flagstaff for a quick stop at Route 66. We visited the one and only Dog Haus on Route 66 for some grub before setting off for our destination for the night, Phoenix.
On our way to Phoenix, we encountered a slight challenge as the back left tire on the van decided it didn't like air inside it. We took a while to change tire and had AAA come out to fill up the tire since it was very low on air. After that we slowly drove to Phoenix, arriving late as usual. Tomorrow morning we'll need to go get the tire fixed before we're able to do anything else.
What a ride this continues to be. Tomorrow around noon we'll head for El Paso, but likely end up traveling until we're too tired to drive and get as close to Dallas as we can.
Until tomorrow...
