April 1st, 2007

Happy April Fool's Day everyone!

Our day started out in Phoenix where we needed to take the car into the shop to get the tire repaired since it got a flat last night. The mechanic told us to come back in 2 hours and it'll be done. We came back about 1 hour and 45 minutes later only to find that they hadn't started on fixing our van.

They told us that they'd have it done from that point in about a half hour, but then took at least a half hour just to get started on it. From there it took about two more hours before they finally finished it. Needless to say, this threw off our already tight schedule.

We did make use of the time by going out around Phoenix and getting some photos close to the shop and then doing lunch with a friend. The Phoenix Plaza was a great place to sit by the pond in great 88 degree whether, drink a little water and enjoy the sun.

Finally after the mechanics finished replacing our two rear tires (only one flat, but the other had issues), we headed out to see the major attractions in Phoenix. High on our list were the Wrigley Mansion, Biltmore Resort and Tovrea Castle. Upon arriving at these places, we found that the Wrigley Mansion really wasn't as picturesqure as we'd hoped (at least from the distance we were allowed) and the Biltmore has some cool features, but was very hard to capture in just one photograph of us.

And when we arrived at the Tovrea Castle, we found that it was closed down, perhaps for some type of renovation. We did nab some great photographs of it from a distance as you can see.

We headed out of town from there on our way to El Paso. The scenery was great as there was a full moon out and later the sky turned reddish. We then came across an area of some very large rocks which reminded us of the Flintstones.

We arrived in El Paso at around midnight and look forward to the next day of travel. It'll likely only be for travel though as we need to make our way to Dallas and it's about a 9 to 10 hour drive. Look for an update probably 2 days from now.
