Our morning in Tampa started out with a call from Laura at the Tampa Tribune letting us know she was waiting in the lobby for us. She had written to us when she saw we'd be passing through Tampa and wanted to know if she could do a little interview and article about us for the newspaper. How could we resist?
So we arrived in the lobby where we met Laura and then outside the photographer. They followed us over to the University which had some beautiful spires that made the building, which used to be a hotel, look quite picturesque. After taking a few pictures, we sat down for a little video interview that they say will be getting posted on their online article.
After that, we left the University for Ybor City, which is right nearby. It has a lot of history, especially with regards to the creation and selling of cigars. We stopped in one cigar shop at Ybor Centro to find out a little bit about how they're made. We then headed down the street to see the Columbia restaurant, which is quite well-known for it's Flamanco dancing performed while you eat your meals.
Just after that, we went outside and were greeted by Lulu, who had written to us online and was excited to meet us. We sat down for a little photo op before heading out to lunch with her on Davis Island. After getting a little food in our bellies, we headed over to Bayshore Boulevard, the world's longest continuous sidewalk. The views from the sidewalk are beautiful, it was easy to tell why so many people were walking and running alongside it, and the homes across the street from it were quite extravagent as well.
From there we headed toward Miami with a small stop in Alligator Alley to get a picture of us in the Everglades. We arrived late in Miami, as we do with about every city, and immediately fell asleep in the dog bed the hotel delivered to our room.
