DC to Philly and then on to New York
We took the 14th to rest after the long walk we had on the 13th and then travelled on the 15th to Philly, where the dreaded "Nor'easter" reared its ugly head. The drive included tons of rain, more than it seems we're used to in Seattle. So once we arrived in Philly, we sat in our hotel waiting for the 16th to arrive and hope for something other than a rain storm to allow us outside for more than a few minutes at a time.
Luckily the 16th arrived with a lot less rain pouring down than the day before. While it was cold and still raining some, we were able to hit the Rocky statue, the famous steps he runs up and see Independence Hall.
From there, we took off for New York, which was quite a challenge when getting to the New Jersey Turnpike included going around a flooded stretch of highway that backed up for a few miles. Thankfully following other people going around the mess turned out to work in our favor as we skipped around the huge line up of cars waiting for the situation to change.
We made sure to stop off at Liberty Park before entering New York. For whatever reason, dogs aren't allowed on Ellis Island or on the Island with the Statue of Liberty, so Liberty Park was as close as we'd be able to get to it. Sadly she didn't face Liberty Park, but we were happy just to see her in person.
After that we took a tunnel to Manhattan and after hassling with the oddity that is New York traffic, we arrived at our hotel and stayed in for the night.
